So the long awaited Apple Pay didn’t quite make it in time for the release of IOS 8 and the iPhone 6 but good news, next Monday the long awaited wireless payment method. Now that Near-Field communication chip that thus-far has been laying dormant in your iPhone 6 can get out and stretch its legs. At the risk of sounding a little against the grain, Apple is carrying on a slight tradition of introducing features that have already been in existence in android phones previously with the exception of putting their heavyweight marketing on. However Apple do have their good  record of integrating well polished and functional features into their devices that are always highly adopted by the consumer market.

So IOS intends to do away with your credit card and also do away with the £20 limit on contact-less card technology currently. It also intends to do this securely and with complete assurance there is no dodgy data collection or account eavesdropping in the process.  What else is on the way with next weeks updates?

Well another crucial feature that is late to the party but welcomed none the less is the hand-off function. Applicable only to Yosemite and above OSX platforms you can now take that half complete email on your laptop and chuck it over to your portable iPhone or iPad device and continue things on the move. Equally this can all be done in vice versa form of course.

One feature that comes with 8.1 is a feature that isnt new at all. Bizarrely we all found ourselves looking for the camera roll function on IOS8 and it was completely missing. Well Apple has listening to its consumers and brought it back where it belongs for IOS8.1. Bizarre boomerang turn of events but there we go.

Some users have noticed a certain sluggishness of IOS8, more specifically on the iPhone 4 and 4s devices. IOS beta testing for IOS8.1 initially worried us as there was sluggishness reported all over. However after numerous recalls and retests Apple believes IOS8.1 to be the smooth operator we need for our antiquated phones!

As always, we at Grasp advice you to contact us first before updating to a new IOS but we have high hopes for this one!

Keep tuned on our Facebook page for feedback as we use ourselves as guinea pigs for the new IOS as it comes out.
