Which PC Antivirus??? – Grasp Recommends….. – August 14′

A loaded question that becomes all the more prevalent as time moves on and as our data shifts more and more to the online environment – Which PC Antivirus???

The truth of the matter is that as time moves on viral nasties become that bit more sophisticated and worrying the opportunities afforded to potential hackers are in greater abundance than they’ve ever been right now. Whilst Windows requests/performs periodic system updates that often include security updates it is the job of your antivirus to act on the key levels of protection.

The key function of antivirus is to prevent spyware, viruses and phishing. Whilst Windows has tried to assure us that its in-built antivirus for Windows 8 environments – ‘Windows Defender’ is all we need to protect our PC’s, extensive industry tests would suggest otherwise. Unfortunately whilst free antivirus software such as AVG, Windows Defender, Avast and alike perform well in a lot of scenarios, they cannot keep up with their paid counterparts.

Here at Grasp we don’t resell and we certainly don’t profit out of recommendations beyond providing good advice to customers. We have followed closely the extensive market research and stress testing that gets carried out on a yearly basis by specialist independent research teams and even carried out tests of our own. We have concluded that based on these tests the short-lists of recommended products for 2014 are as follows:

1. Kaspersky – Anti-Virus 2014

2. Bitdefender – Antivirus Plus 2014

3. Norton – Antivirus 2014

4. F-Secure – Antivirus 2014
