Windows 10 Announced – Grasp Support – 14′

Ok so you are probably asking yourself two questions. One, what happened to Windows 9? And two, have Microsoft got rid of the pain in the proverbial full screen start menu from Windows 8? Well, firstly, there are numerous theories as to the absence of a Windows 9 with the most common explanation being that Microsoft want to show they want to distance themselves from Windows 8 and its rather painful foray into touch screen priority operating systems and also get back on numerical terms with Mac OSX.

Whatever the reasons, we are happy to report yes, the traditional start menu back and the full screen start menu is done with and resigned to the shelves as a failed experiment. Windows 10 will be an OS designed to cater for all devices equally, but not at the expense of functionality for any one particular device as was the case with Windows 8. There will be no need now for users to have to switch between a desktop mode and a touch based mode.

Microsoft have themselves stated that there is alarming evidence to suggest most companies globally have stayed with Windows 7 as the trusty OS for their business and not made the much maligned update to Windows 8 for fear of its functionality. Microsoft say they have prioritised Microsoft 10 as the meeting point between both Windows 7 and 8 in order to claw back some of its sales. It needed in no uncertain terms the ease of use and common sense of Windows 7 coupled with the efficient processing of Windows 8 to be on to a winner.

There is confirmation that Windows 10 will be compatible with Intel and AMD chipsets but no news on when exactly the new operating system will be released exactly. We sit and have our fingers crossed that Windows 10 brings back common sense for Microsoft and gives us the OS we have all been begging for since Windows 7.
