Apple Music, The Future Of Music – Grasp 15′

On June 8th of this year Apple announced a new service simply called “Apple Music”. Just as definitive and to the point as the name is, the service itself will definitively and to the point-ly change the very nature of the music industry itself.

Apple’s new service is a music streaming subscription based package that puts Apple’s entire music catalogue along with some rather useful music sourcing features right in your face on your Apple devices as of IOS 8.4. Does any of that first part sound familiar to you?………. Well, perhaps first in the firing line of this new service could be Spotify. Apple have never attempted to buy out, or merge with Spotify. It would seem they will just launch their streaming service in parallel and aim to shove aside Spotify by virtue of being the heavyweight in the equation and owning a huge chunk of the devices in consumers hands that can stream such services.

You will now have one sleek and tidy place where you can access the substantial Apple Music catalogue, your existing Itunes purchases, your ripped CDs and now access Apple’s 24/7 radio service (“Beats 1”) and the amazing Apple connect service that is a very exciting prospect that allows Artists to share lyrics, backstage photos, videos or even release their latest song directly to fans directly from their iPhone.

You can start off monthly for £9.99 for yourself or £14.99 for a family subscription (6 people). Before this though Apple are offering a free 3 month trial for those who want to test the waters.

The bigger picture says that sales of music have been in steady decline since the rise of peer to peer music. Apple is now attempting to average 200 million subscribers out of 800 million using their products which they say will give a vital boost to the music industry it so desperately needs.
