Apple to announce next generation of OSX and IOS at WWDC2014

The general consensus ahead of next weeks WWDC conference seems to be that Apple will be making the official announcement of the IOS 8 and OSX 10.10 platforms. Whilst Apple remains as tight lipped as we have come to expect of them ahead of product announcements, they have given us strong indications via their keynote schedule (see link below) and via strong insider information that indeed operating systems will be the order of the day. With little in the way of hardware announcements seemingly forthcoming (with perhaps the exception of an new iMac announcement and Apple possible jumping on the “Wearable” technology bandwagon) for now at least it seems we have longer to wait for any iPhone or iPad announcements.

For five days, one thousand Apple engineers and five thousand developers will gather together. And life will be different as a result.

What does this mean for me?

For those of us who were a little dubious of the much maligned 10.9 “Mavericks” OSX this could finally be the stable and dependable OSX the general public have been crying out for in recent history. The “insider information” for OSX 10.10 gives the operating system a codename of “Syrah” and an anticipated release date of October 2014. As for IOS8, it is expected that it will first see the light of day as and when the iPhone 6 is released later this year.
